Papāta-pabbata
A mountain in Avanti, near Kuraraghara.
It was a favourite spot of Mahā-Kaccāna, and we are told of several discussions having taken place there (e.g., S.iii.9 ff; S.iv.115 f; A.v.46 f). Mahā-Kaccāna’s attendant was, at that time, Soṇa-Kuṭikaṇṇa, yet a layman. He later became a monk, and the ten monks necessary for his ordination were found with great difficulty. Vin.i.194 f; Ud.v.6; DhA.iv.101 f.
