Vassaṃvuttha Sutta

At one time the Blessed One was dwelling at Sāvatthi in Anāthapiṇḍika’s monastery. Then a certain monk, having spent the Rains there, returned to Kapilavatthu. Hearing of his arrival, the Sākyā of Kapilavatthu approached him paid respects, and asked about the welfare of the Blessed One, Sāriputta and Moggallāna, and the Saṅgha. The monk said that they were all well.

Then they asked him if he had learnt anything while staying in Sāvatthi. The monk told them that he had heard that those who attained Arahantship were few, while those who had destroyed the lower fetters and were bound to attain the goal without returning were relatively many. Those who had attained Non-returning were few while those who had attained Once-returning were relatively many. Those who had attained Once-returning were few while those who had attain Stream-winning and were bound for enlightenment were relatively many. S.v.405.
