Tiputthulla-vihāra

A monastery built by Dāṭhopatissa II (s.v. Hatthadāṭha) as an extension to the Abhayagiri-vihāra.

The Theravādins objected to it, as the grounds lay within their boundary.

The king refused to recognise their protest and the bhikkhus passed on him the “pattanikkujjanakamma” — overturning the almsbowl for him, i.e. they agreed not to accept any offerings from him. Cv.xiv.29 ff.
