Pācinadīpa

An island off the coast of Sri Lanka. While on a journey there in order to eat rose-apple (jambu), Saṅghatissa was killed by the enraged islanders (Mhv.xxxvi.70 f).

The Mahāvaṃsa Ṭīkā explains (p.666) that it was situated in the sea off Mahātittha, in which case it is one of the islands between the north point of Sri Lanka and the Indian continent. Mhv.Trs.261, n.4.
