Duvera Sutta

v.l. Paṭhamabhayaverūpasanta Sutta.– Anāthapiṇḍika visits the Buddha, who tells him of the five guilty fears — that are begotten:

1. by killing,
2. by stealing,
3. by wrong indulgence of sensual lust,
4. by evil speaking, and
5. by the drinking of intoxicants.

Freedom from these, together with possession of the Noble Insight, enables a man to say that he is destined for Enlightenment. S.v.387 f.
