Ādiya Sutta

Taught at Jetavana to Anāthapiṇḍika on the five uses (ādiyā) of possessions legitimately obtained:

1. one enjoys them oneself;
2. entertains with them one’s friends and relations;
3. uses them in times of need;
4. employs them in the discharge of one’s duties to the king, to religion, to one’s relations, both living and dead; and
5. doing good deeds that will bring happiness in future lives.
