Kakkaṭa

1. Kakkaṭa.– An eminent monk mentioned, with Cāla, Upacāla, Kalimbha, Nikata and Katissaha, as staying with the Buddha at the Kūṭāgārasālā in Vesāli. When the Licchavī started coming there to pay their respects to the Buddha, the monks, desiring solitude, went into the woodlands nearby, such as the Gosiṅgasālavanadāya. A.v.133 f.

2. Kakkaṭa.– A lay disciple of Ñātika mentioned with several others (S.v.138). He is evidently identical with Kakudha (1).
